City Secretary Joko: Education is Important to Create Superior Human Resources

City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono, emphasized the important role of education in creating quality human resources (HR) to prepare Jakarta to become a global scale business city.

This seminar is an effort that will lead to the creation of quality human resources

According to him, when opening the International Seminar with the theme 'Jakarta: A Global City Towards a Golden Indonesia' held by the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik), Tuesday (5/14) at Great Hall, City Hall.

He said that the seminar, which presented speakers from within and outside the country, also made a very valuable contribution to redefining or transforming educational services, especially in Jakarta, so that they are on par with developed cities in the world.

"This seminar is an effort that will lead to the creation of quality human resources," he expressed.

In accordance with the mandate of Law Number 2/2024 on the Special Region of Jakarta (DKJ), superior human resources are needed to prepare Jakarta as a global scale business city and Golden Indonesia 2045.

"Without superior human resources, we can't achieve what is envisioned in Law no. 2/2024, namely making Jakarta a business city on a global scale. Then prepare facilities and infrastructure, as well as an effective, efficient and economical budget," he explained.

Hence, he wanted schools in Jakarta to be able to develop students to have the competencies needed in the world of work, such as creating educational curricula that are tailored to the world of work and establishing good relationships with prospective companies for the world of work.

He mentioned there were three important things in building Jakarta as a Global City that prioritizes improving the quality of life of residents. First, making the city livable which includes aspects from housing to residents' health.

Second, pay attention to environmental aspects which include waste processing, sanitation and waste water. Third, complete the accessibility aspect which includes the development of public transportation and roads.
